Ms. Caroline Wambugu

Caroline Wambugu is a Certified Public Accountant, CPA(K) (2009), and a member of ICPAK, with more than 24 years in finance and accounting across the banking and, latterly, technology and telecommunications sectors. As Head of Financial Planning, Analysis & Investor Relations at Safaricom Plc, she leads investor engagement in coordination with the Capital Markets Authority and the Nairobi Securities Exchange. She has engaged more than 500 local and foreign investors, and delivered the company’s inaugural Investor Day.

Previously she served as CFO and Executive Director of Absa Bancassurance Intermediary Ltd and as Head of Finance Decision Support (Vice-President) at Absa Bank Kenya, and earlier as Chief Accountant and Head of Business Performance at NIC Bank (now NCBA), where she was responsible for group consolidation, IFRS reporting, provisioning for bad and doubtful debts, statutory returns and CBK liaison.

She holds a B.Com (Accounting) from CUEA and is completing an MBA in Strategic Management. Her board experience includes membership of the Finance Council Committee at Pan Africa Christian University. She was a Top 40 Under 40 finalist (2017) and is the author of “Heal Your Finances”.
